What an RO AMC should cover, and what usually is not covered
A maintenance contract is worth having only if it covers the parts that genuinely wear out. On a domestic purifier those are the three cartridge filters (sediment, pre-carbon, post-carbon), which are consumed on a schedule, and the RO membrane, booster pump and solenoid valve, which fail on use and on water quality. A basic AMC anywhere in Delhi NCR should include the three filters, all labour, and unlimited call-outs. If it charges per visit, it is a service plan wearing an AMC label. What is never covered, by us or by anyone honest, is physical damage, a cracked housing, damage from running the machine dry, and electrical faults upstream of the purifier. Ask for those exclusions in writing before you sign anything, with anyone.
Which tier you need depends on your water, not your budget
This is the one decision worth getting right, and in Delhi NCR it is decided at the tap rather than in a brochure. On treated Delhi Jal Board supply, typically 200-400 TDS, the RO membrane can last three years or more and a basic AMC is the sensible choice: you are mostly paying for filters and labour. On borewell or tanker water — much of outer west and north west Delhi, the trans-Yamuna belt, most Noida high-rise societies, Greater Noida and Indirapuram, where 800-2000 TDS is ordinary — the membrane is consumed far faster, sometimes inside eighteen months, and a single out-of-contract membrane replacement can cost more than the difference between the two tiers. What actually fails on Delhi NCR water
Hard water does not usually kill a purifier outright. It degrades it in a recognisable order. First the output slows, because the sediment filter is loaded with the fine silt that comes with tanker supply. Then the taste flattens and the TDS at the outlet starts climbing, because the membrane is scaling. Then the booster pump begins cycling noisily or runs continuously, because it is working against a blocked membrane, and a pump run that way does not last long. Most emergency call-outs we attend in Noida and Ghaziabad are at the third stage, when a scheduled service at the first stage would have cost nothing under contract. The value of an AMC is almost entirely in the visits you did not think you needed.
Five things to check before signing any AMC in Delhi NCR
One: how many visits, and are breakdown call-outs on top of them or counted against them. Two: which filters are included by name, and whether the membrane is in or out. Three: what a part costs if it is out of contract, asked before you sign rather than after it fails. Four: response time in writing, and whether it holds on a Sunday. Five: whether you get a GST invoice and a written service record, which matters if the machine is in an office or a rented flat and someone else audits the spend. Any contractor who will not answer these five in writing is quoting a number, not a contract.
When renting is cheaper than an AMC
We will make the argument against our own AMC, because for a lot of people it is the right answer. If your purifier is more than six or seven years old, an AMC is maintenance on an asset that is close to the end of its life, and you may spend two years of contract fees on a machine you replace anyway. At that point renting from ₹399 a month includes the machine, installation, every service, every filter, the membrane and all repairs for as long as you keep it, with no AMC to renew and no capital to write off. The arithmetic is straightforward: compare a year of AMC plus the residual value of your current machine against twelve months of rent. If you own a newer purifier you are happy with, take the AMC. If you are maintaining something tired, rent instead. We are equally glad to do either, and we would rather say so now than sell you a contract you regret.

Comprehensive works out cheaper on high-TDS borewell water, where membranes are consumed faster.

For assembled machines we check part availability on the first visit and tell you straight away if something is going to be hard to source.

We will repair it first as a paid job, then start the contract from the date the machine is working. Starting a contract on a machine that is already failed is not fair to either of us, and no honest contractor does it. The repair quote is given before any work starts.
