The Delhi NCR smog season is not a vague thing. It starts in the second week of October as the stubble-burning smoke arrives from Punjab and Haryana, peaks through November when the winter inversion traps it at ground level, and eases off in late February. That is roughly four months. For the other eight, PM2.5 across most of NCR sits in a range a purifier does very little about, and the machine is a box on top of a wardrobe. This is the clearest case for renting anything we stock: you pay ₹950 a month on a six-month plan that covers the whole season, we deliver and collect, and the eight months of storage are our problem. We deliver across Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad, same day through September to February.
Every year the same thing happens. The AQI crosses 400 in the first week of November, the news leads with it, and demand for purifiers triples in about four days. By that point the good units are out and what is left is undersized for the room. If you want a purifier for this winter, the sensible time to place the order is late September or the first half of October, before the season starts rather than after it has. Rent begins when the unit is delivered, so booking early costs nothing except the month you actually use it.
H13 is a grade, not a marketing word: it means the filter captures at least 99.95% of particles at the hardest-to-catch size, which is around 0.3 microns and covers PM2.5. That is the stage doing the real work. The activated carbon stage after it handles smoke smell and VOCs, which is what makes the difference between air that tests clean and air that smells clean during stubble-burning weeks. What you can safely ignore: ioniser and plasma claims, which add ozone more reliably than they add filtration, and stage counts, since a five-stage machine with a poor HEPA is worse than a three-stage one with a good one. Every unit we rent has a live PM2.5 readout on the front, so you can watch the number fall in your own room rather than take the spec sheet's word for it.
One purifier cleans one room. It does not clean a flat. A single unit suits a bedroom or a study up to roughly 350 square feet with the door shut; an open living-dining space usually needs the unit placed in whichever half people actually sit in, and accepting that the rest lags. Put it a foot clear of walls and furniture so it can draw air from all sides, off the floor if you have a small child crawling, and run it on a low setting overnight rather than a high setting for two hours. We will advise on placement for your layout at delivery, at no cost, because a well-placed cheap unit beats a badly placed expensive one.
A comparable H13 True-HEPA purifier retails at ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, and the replacement filter set — the part that actually does the work — runs ₹2,500 to ₹4,000 a year and is the cost most buyers quietly skip until the machine is circulating dirty air. Renting is ₹1,100 a month on three months, ₹950 on six and ₹850 on twelve, with a refundable ₹1,000 deposit. The filter set is replaced free each season, delivery and collection are free, and if the unit fails we swap it rather than repair it in your home. On a four-month season, one winter of rent costs about ₹3,800, which is roughly one filter set and a fifth of the purchase price.
